Meeting someone new and talking about personal experiences may feel uncomfortable or even a little daunting at first. Many people feel this way, and it is understandable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In therapy, you might wonder what to say, where to begin, or whether you are sharing the &#8220;right&#8221; things. That is ok. You don&#8217;t need to have everything figured out. My role is to help create a safe and comfortable space and gently guide the conversation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The psychotherapy process usually begins with spending some time to getting to know you, understanding what has brought you to therapy and what you hope to gain from it. We may talk about:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Your current concerns and how they are affecting your daily life<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Important life experiences and personal history<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Family background and relationships<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Interpersonal relationships<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your current coping methods.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Thoughts, feelings, and behaviours connected to your concerns<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This initial conversation would help me to have understanding of your experiences and the challenges you may be facing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some of these conversations may feel unfamiliar or difficult at times. We will move at a pace that feels right for you. My aim is to provide a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space where you can explore your experiences openly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From there, we would begin to make sense of the patterns underlying your concerns. We will explore how your concerns may have developed, what factors might be keeping them going, and how they are impacting different areas of your life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thereafter, we can collaboratively identify meaningful goals and plan intervention that supports your needs. Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all process. Depending on your concerns and goals, intervention could be drawn from a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-nowrap is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-8f761849 wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Every person is unique and therapy should reflect that.
